How To Pitch Your Idea

Wednesday 14 June, 1.00pm – 2.00pm
Learn how to bring your idea to life with words and pictures that connect with your target audience.

About this event

So you’ve got a cool idea for a new startup, there’s just one challenge: you need to get the idea out of your head and bring it to life with words and pictures that connect with your target audience – be it potential co-founders and team mates, early adopters and beach head customers or – most commonly – potential funders and investors.

Agenda:

In these super practical, spirit-first 60-minute sessions we will go over the key ingredients of what makes a successful pitch:

  • Structure and narrative
  • Use of language
  • Slide design
  • Stagecraft
  • Practice

This will give you a grounding in the basics and get you started crafting your own pitch decks.

There will also be an opportunity to practice every session via an open mic spot where you can get honest feedback and advice from the tutor and attendees.

Who is this for?

Regardless of whether you’re a complete pitch newbie or an experienced demo day pitch-master these interactive sessions will provide helpful tips, pointers and feedback for everyone. When it comes to pitching there is no magic formula or template that works for everyone – though lots of books and experts will tell you otherwise – what matters most is your commitment to learning the basic notes and iterating until you find the right formula what works for you.

This event will be held virtually on Zoom. Meeting details will be sent in your confirmation email when you book a ticket.

This activity will support your progress towards the Imperial Award.

About the speaker

These sessions will be led by Ben Mumby-Croft, Director of Imperial Enterprise Lab. Ben is a visual marketing and branding expert by background and expert entrepreneurship educator with over 15-years experience helping first time founders to launch their ideas and get their message across. In that time he has seen LOTS of pitches and is the Lab’s go-to, self-professed resident pitch nerd.
