Beth Marcus - Bio
Beth Marcus is a serial entrepreneur in the trenches helping other entrepreneurs. As a veteran startup CEO, Beth has brought numerous hardware and software products to market. Currently, she works with executives and leaders of entrepreneurial teams to define and execute successful business, product & IP strategies.
Marcus sold her first company, EXOS, creator of the SideWinder force-feedback joystick, to Microsoft. More than 10 million units have been sold. Marcus also founded four other companies including Zeemote, where she led cross-functional efforts to deliver wireless controller products for mobile devices and Playrific a platform that builds engaging apps for kids with IP from child-oriented family brands.
She holds over 30 technology and medical technology patents, has been extensively published, is a frequent public speaker, and a respected consultant. As founder, investor, or advisor, she has helped guide more than 20 start-ups in a variety of industries, several of which have been acquired by publicly held companies such as LeapFrog and HTMedical.
Beth holds a Master of Science (SM) and a Bachelor of Science (SB) in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and has served as a faculty member in their Mechanical Engineering department. She received a PhD in Biomechanics from the Imperial College, London, where she was a Marshall Scholar.
Eddie Chau - Bio
Eddie Chau formed Brandtology in 2008 after successfully incubating e-Cop, a company he founded in 2000, to a market leader in Info-Security Industry. e-Cop was acquired in 2007 by a wholly owned subsidiary of Temasek Holding Pte Ltd..
Brandtology is the leader in Business & Brand online intelligence services. Using proprietary technologies and proven process, combined with trained and experienced analysts, Brandtology helps companies analyse online conversations in the social media and make strategic decisions for their brands in a timely manner. Brandtology supports global clients in multiple countries and languages with more than 300 professionals in 15 countries. In 2014, iSentia, listed in Australia Stock Exchange fully acquired Brandtology.
In 2011, Eddie co-founded V-Key with a key objective to make all mobile devices and applications more secured with cutting edge patented technology. In 2014, Ant Financial, a unit of Alibaba led a Series B investment round in V-Key. In 2012, co-founded TNF Ventures with several ICT entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, to incubate early stage ICT start-ups.
In 2013, Eddie founded Neeuro to develop products that empower people to live happier, healthier and more productively through the use of neuro-technology and gamification. In 2014, Eddie co-founded Spini, a marketplace for Sales Professionals to get crucial information for sales opportunities from the crowd.
Before founding Brandtology, Eddie was the Founder & CEO of e-Cop. He brought to the organisation his extensive experience in the ICT. He led and charted all aspects of e-Cop group’s strategic direction from product development through to professional consultancy services, technology development, sales and global expansion. Under his dynamic leadership and vision, e-Cop has grown to be the market leader in the Info- Security industry with international presence spanning more than 20 countries.
Before founding Brandtology and e-Cop, Eddie held senior positions in IBM and Computer Associates Inc.. Eddie has also appeared as the investor/judge in Startup Asia Seasons 1 & 2 by Channel News Asia.
Married with two children, Chau holds an MSc in Communication Engineering from Imperial College London.
Stefano Ciampolini - Bio
Mr. Ciampolini is a healthcare entrepreneur and co-founder of Healthcare Capital Partners, a London based private equity and corporate finance advisory boutique specialized in life sciences and healthcare ventures. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Imperial College Business School in London. Mr. Ciampolini started his professional career with his family’s group of companies, which included private clinics and diagnostic equipment manufacturing in Italy, France and the United States.
He joined Arthur Andersen in London in 1996, where he was a member of its healthcare corporate finance team. In 1999, he founded NephroNet, a chain of independent dialysis centres, which was acquired by Baxter Inc. in 2001. From 2001 to 2003 Stefano was a Managing Director of Baxter Renal Therapy Services and since 2007 he has served has CEO of the Renal Services Group, a dialysis services company based in London which he founded. As part of his investment activities Mr. Ciampolini is a founder, board member and investor in several healthcare ventures and private equity funds focusing on healthcare investments in Europe and the US.
He is a board member of General Genetics Corporation, a US genetic company, a founder and board member of Pure Life Renal, a US dialysis services company, a founder and board member of Biofficient, a biotech e-platform, and a partner at Boss Group, a global investment firm. Mr. Ciampolini earned an MBA from Imperial College Business School in London in 1994 and holds a degree in economics from Kingston University in Surrey.
John Ryan - Bio
John has founded and run several tech companies. He spent 14 years building and running Ryan Hankin Kent, a telecom consulting firm he founded with two colleagues; RHK was renowned for technically-derived and precise insights in strategy. He co-founded Pixel Qi Corp., which pioneered fabless display development. Currently working on expanding internet access through a new venture, WireTheWorld, and on revitalizing or disrupting global aid, with the People-Centered Internet Project.
Energetic, enthusiastic, exceptional hands-on leader, with deep experience in operations and consulting in leading tech fields – telecom, displays and related areas, executive, experienced in telecom, IT, web services, device design and manufacturing; and with considerable relevant NGO-centric and community experience.
20 years of experience living and working in US, Asia and Europe. John built and led cohesive multinational teams, been on and worked with boards of directors, raised funding, and is widely lauded for my work on tech-sector strategies and leadership, and has worked or consulted at executive level for multi-national corporations including: Google, AT&T, BT (British Telecom), NTT, Fujitsu, Intel, Siemens, Sony, Vodafone (in India) and Intel.
